December 2010 Footprints from the Journey

It is a time of lists, so much to do, so much to say, schedules are packed, time is short, what and who did I forget, the economy scares me, I can’t do everything I want, I can only try, but it still doesn’t satisfy, what would I give if I could give anything? I do not have the financial or the physical resources to fill the need that I see. I only have the Love resources. It is one of the great things about Love, the source never runs dry, the bank never defaults, you can give it all away today, sleep, and give it all away again. I can give it all away in this moment, all that you need or could ever use, and still have enough for myself and everyone else. It is what I give to each and every one of you! May every moment of your life be filled with more love than you could ever hope to need and may you be generous with your giving of love as well.

I also offer to you something written by a good friend, someone whom I have never met in person, never spoken to face to face, never physically been present with, yet I have talked with her thousands of times heart to heart, I consider her a great friend:

STAR GIVING

What I’d really like to give you for Christmas is a star . . .

Brilliance in a package,

something you could keep in the pocket of your jeans

or in the pocket of your being.

Something to take out in times of darkness,

something that would never snuff out nor tarnish,

something for wonderment,

something for pondering,

something that would remind you of what Christmas has always meant:

God’s Advent Light into the darkness of this world.

But stars are only God’s for giving,

and I must be content to give you words and wishes

and packages without stars.

But I can wish you life

as radiant as the Star

that announced the Christ child’s coming,

and as filled with awe as the shepherds who stood

beneath its light.

And I can pass on to you the love

that has been given to me,

ignited countless times by others

who have knelt in Bethlehem’s light.

Perhaps, if you ask, God will give you a star.

by Ann Weems from Kneeling in Bethlehem

May God’s peace fill you always and all ways.
