CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF VACAVILLE
In 1891 a new
Church was constructed on the adjoining parcel to accommodate the growing
congregation and the little Church was moved once again, down to the corner of
Wilson on South Main Street, where it was used briefly by Vacaville Union High
School and then was purchased by the Presbyterians to replace their Depot Street
Church which had been lost in a fire. As was the fate of many early
Vacaville buildings, the little Church was also lost in a fire shortly
thereafter.

This new church was
constructed by George Sharpe entirely of redwood for a cost $6,780.35, which
included all furnishing except for the bell, organ and a few other items from
the old church. The cost also included $100 for the purchase of the
adjoining lot.
In this home the
congregation celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the church on October 4,
1904.
All churches in the area
fell on hard times following the end of the First World War, the
Presbyterians, the Baptists, and some members of the Christian Church joined
together to form a community church under Rev. Fruhling of the Presbyterian
Church. As more members were in the group that joined the community church
then remained as the Christian Church, the building became the property of the
community church even though they did not meet there. The building was
used by the elementary school for classrooms and then during the 1930's
Depression, the building was dismantled and the redwood used to construct houses
in the area.
