CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF VACAVILLE
Without a church
home the remaining members of the Christian Church met first at the Adventist
Church on Elizabeth Street, and then at the Baptist Church until it was torn
down in about 1923. They next used the old Methodist Church until it too
was torn down in 1928. Being without a public meeting place, the members
continued to meet faithfully every Sunday at a member's home.
In 1929 a new little
church was dedicated on College Street (now the Creekwalk area of Andrew Park.)
Although it appeared small on the outside it could seat 100 people
comfortably. It also had the advantage of being located only a half block
from the business district. In the following years an addition was made to the
rear of the building almost doubling it size, and a full basement was dug below
the church.
In 1952 fire severely
damaged the the roof and interior of the building and the congregation was again
invited to worship at the Adventist Church until construction was
completed. The restoration work was completed in time to celebrate the
Anniversary of our first 100 years on October 5, 1954.
The picture below was
taken after the building had been restored.

The members have many
delightful memories of the years spent in the College Street Church, but by 1961
they needed more room and the lot was purchased at our present location on Vine
Street. On May 16, 1965 ground was broken at our present church home on
Vine Street.
The College Street Church
served the City as a recreation center until it was torn down when Andrews Park
was created.
